Dear Faithful,

Blessed Feast of St. Innocent of Alaska! You can read about his remarkable life in the bulletin (thank you, Peggy). I also encourage everyone to read his classic catechetical work: "Indication of the Way into the Kingdom of Heaven."

This week we have several events at the Church: 

  • Instead of our typical Vespers at 5pm on Wednesday, we will pray the Akathist to the Mother of God Healer of Cancer

  • On Thursday at 8am, we will have Liturgy for St. Tikhon, Enlightener of North America. 

  • We will have our Book Club on Thursday (5:45pm) and our Mother's Group on Friday morning (9:45am).

  • We will also take advantage of the nice weather with Work Days on Wednesday (10am - 2pm) and Friday (3pm - 6pm). 

  • On Saturday, following Great Vespers, we will have our first Fall Fellowship event of the season (Bible Pictionary).

St. Innocent's life verse was Psalm 37:23: "The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand."

Daily Readings

Parishioners of St. Olympia Orthodox Church are from many different backgrounds: American, Greek, Russian, Albanian, Ukrainian, English, Eritrean, Hispanic, Native American, etc. Services are primarily in English, and the music is from both the Byzantine chant and Russian choral traditions.
